He died on 20 Jun 1935. T.B. Summers Dies At Milton - Veteran Cabell Educator Succumbs At 88; Rites To Be Held Sunday: Thomas Bascomb Summers, 88, son of the late Judge George W. Summers of Milton, one of the earliest settlers of Cabell county, and for many years prominent in its educational life, died yesterday evening at his home east of Milton following a lingering illness. Mr. Summers was graduated from Marshall College in 1869. Soon after he became a teacher in the county schools. He retired in 1914, after 45 years of service, to devote himself to farming near Milton. By his first marriage, to Miss Anna Erwin (note: her name was Anna Ewing), of Fincastle, Va, Mr. Summers had four children; Dr. Bronson Summers, a captain in the U.S. Marines, at Quantico, Va.; a daughter, Cora Marie Summers, both of whom are deceased; another son, Toson Summers, Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Pensacola, Fla., and another daughter, Mrs. Irene Stoneman, of Richmond, Va., both of whom survive. The second Mrs. Summers, formerly Miss Gertrude Thornburg, of Barboursville, also survives, as do two brothers, T.C. (Tyra Campbell) Summers, of Milton, and M.J. (Matthew James) Summers, of Huntington. Funeral Services will be held Sunday in the Methodist Episcopal Church South with Rev. L.S. Cunningham officiating. Complete arrangements will be made today upon the arrival of Lieutenant Commander Summers from Pensacola.

David Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in Teays Valley Memorial Gardens.
She was born July 15, 1928, in Cabell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ernest
Lee and Anna Billups Sunderland. She was also preceded in death by her sister,
Dorothy Sunderland. Louise was a retired hairdresser. She was an active member
of Church in the Valley and a charter member of its ladies’ group, Lilies
of the Valley. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert "Bob"
McNeely; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Marilyn McNeely of Milton,
and Jeff and Pat McNeely of Ashton; one brother, Frank Sunderland; six sisters,
Patricia Evans of South Point, Ohio, Geraldine Anderson of Elkins, W.Va., Donna
Donahue of South Charleston, Zell Sunderland and Brenda "Susie" Sunderland,
both of Huntington, and Joyce Pauley of Peterstown, W.Va.; three grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Church
in the Valley, Milton. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, is in charge of arrangements.
