DIED, January 29, 1892-Mrs. Hannah Price age 92 years. Mrs. Price was
born December 29, 1799 in the State of Pennsylvania. Her maiden name was
Bailey, and her father done good work as a soldier in the war of the
Revolution. His native State was Maryland. Her husband, Jacob
Price was a Virginian by birth. He was a soldier in the war of
1812, belonging to the 130 Pennsylvania Rifles. There were born to them
eleven ceildren (children), nine of whom are living, two of them B. M .V. and
J. J. B Price in this city.
Mrs. Price has made her home with her son, B M. V, Price, who
has cared for her with tenderness of an affectionate son. For more than
a year past she has been bed-ridden requiring all the care and attention of a
helpless child. But not in the slightest degree was she allowed to
suffer where relief and attention would be of service to her. Mrs. Price
was a member of the Baptist church seventy-two years and was of the plain, old
fashioned style of Christian. She requested that no ornaments nor
handles be put upon her coffin and that no hearse bear her body to the grave;
that no choir singing nor instrumental music be permitted at her funeral, all
of which directions were faithfully carried out. She was a devout
believer in the Christian religion, selecting the best from the creeds and
living in accordance with their teachings. She was a model woman in her
every day life, as anger was unknown to her; never uttered a profane word; nor
a word of contempt. Never allowed in her house what is known as
"tattling" or "back-biting" neighbors. In truth, in
her death, a really good woman is at rest.
