26, 1819, William Burnam, of Greenfield, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire,
aged 58 years, deposed:
that
he enlisted July 22, 1779 under Capt. William Ellis, Col. Scammell, N.
H. line, and served one year, being discharged at West Point, New York,
July 23, 1780, but has lost the document.

On roll of two years men, Scammel, engaged July 12, 1779; discharged July
22, 1780.
Oct.
26, 1819, Samuel Sparhawk, Secretary, certified that Willm Burnam's name
appeared on return on Capt. Wm. Ellis' company "and by the remarks opposite
the name of the said William Burnam it would appear that he enlisted into
said company on the 22nd of July, 1779, for the term of one year."
Same
day, ROBERT B. WILKINS, of Concord, N. H., Ensign in Col. Alexander Scammel's
regiment, and knew that William Burnam served as stated.

allowed May 1, 1820.
Apparently
pensioner made no attempt to have his name continued on the rolls after
the law of May, 1820 was enforced, but Aug. 15, 1832 William Burnam, of
Rutland County, Vermont, aged 70 years, deposed:
that
he enlisted from Lyndeborough, N. H., in 1779, under Capt. William Ellis,
marched to Fishkill, N. Y., where his company remained under command of
Lieut. Frost, until November, 1779, then to Danbury, Conn., and then in
March with Poor's Brigade to West Point, New York, where he was stationed
at Fort Arnold until his term of one year had expired, when he was discharged.
This document has been lost.

30, 1832, ROBERT BRADFORD WILKINS, of Barton, Mass., repeated his former
testimony and another certificate from New Hampshire was again filed, of
same purport as before
