Alfred and Beatrice Gates

Alfred Edward Gates (1896-1962)		Beatrice Carrie Watts (1886-1972)

Alfred Gates was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire on 9th April 1896, to Edward and Elizabeth Gates.		Beatrice Watts was born in Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire on 30th April 1886, to William and Jane Watts.

Alfred Gates was a timber haulier. He first worked in Aveley, Essex, before buying a piece of land in Pilgrim's Hatch, near Brentwood, Essex.
Alfred and Beatrice moved to Bovingdon, Hertfordshire in 1930 and lived at New Maulden Farm.

They had two children:

1. Ruby Ellen

Alfred died on 6th November 1962, aged 66. Beatrice died on 24th January 1972, aged 86 years. They are buried at Flaunden.
