Private Burton Phillips. Son of Horace and Susan Cutright Phillips. Born October 8, 1843 in what is now Upshur County,WV.  Wounded at Snicker's Gap July, 18, 1864. Mustered Out 6/28/65. Married Narcissus Brake on October 12, 1871.  Died September 19, 1893 and Buried at Indian Camp Cemetery in Upshur County.

"Crippled at the Battle of Snicker's Gap, which disability had much to do with his death." (Cutright's History of Upshur County.)
