Pennsylvania's state fossil is
Phacopsrana, a trilobite - essentially a pop-eyed, six-inch-long
arthropod resembling a horseshoe crab - that roamed the shallow
sea covering what is today Pennsylvania during the Devonian
Period, 405 million to 365 million years ago. Most
specimens of Phacops rana fossils are found in the Mahantango
Formation that blankets central and eastern parts of the state.
This website was created as a guide to the history and genealogy of Bucks County Pennsylvania . All efforts have been made to be accurate and to document sources. Some of the material has been contributed and published, with permission, in good faith. I am always open to suggestions. Enjoy!
