      Mary Leane, 25 year old Spinster, embarked at Liverpool, England aboard the S. S. “Circassian,” Master Robert H.       I don't remember ever seeing Aunt Mary Leane till she lived up on the farm on top of the hill and we thought it wonderful to see the house from Front St. when we used to go walking up there (Source: Letter: Florence Fayden to Delia Palmatier, January 5, 1978.).

      In 1884 Aunt Mary crossed the channel from Ireland to Liverpool, England, then secured passage, using the $20 her sister Maggie had sent, for the two week voyage to Canada, settling in Ottawa. At Christmas 1887, Aunt Mary was living at 365 Daly St., Ottawa. She worked there for about 3 years before entering the U. S and going to her Uncle John Sullivan's home in Binghamton, NY. She sent money back home for Patsy's voyage.

      On January 18, 1900 Horace Strickland, 43 year old Farmer born April 1857 in NY, who had been married 10 years, and who owned his own farm with a mortgage; Mary, 41 year old born April 1859 in NY, who had given birth to 5 children, 5 of whom were still living; Harrison, 20 year old Farm Laborer born Jan 1879 in NY; Anna, 11 year old born May 1889 in NY, who had been attending school; Delia, 9 year old born Dec 1890 in NY; Lucy, 7 year old born Dec 1892 in NY; Howard, 5 year old born July 1894 in NY; Leota, 3 year old born Aug 1896 in NY; were living on farm 256 (Source: Census: 1900: NY: Broome: Chenango: ED: 31: Page: 10A: Line: 34.).

      On April 19, 1910 Horace Strickland, 53 year old Farmer born in NY, who had been married twice, currently for 20 years, and who owned his own farm with a mortgage; Mary, 49 year old Weaver born in Ireland and immigrated to the U.S. in 1891, and who had given birth to 5 children, 5 of whom were still living; Delia, 19 year old District School Teacher born in NY; Lucy, 17 year old born in NY; Howard, 15 year old born in NY, who had been attending school; Leota, 13 year old born in NY, who had been attending school; were living at farm 60 (Source: Census: 1910: NY: Broome: Chenango: ED: 39: Page: 3A: Line: 5.).

      On January 30, 1920 Horace Strickland, 63 year old Farmer born in NY, who owned his own farm free and clear; Mary, 59 year old born in NY; Leota, 23 year old Teacher born in NY; Margaret, 8 year old born in NY, who had been attending school; were living at farm 230 on Oak Hill Road (Source: Census: 1920: NY: Broome: Chenango: ED: 67: Page: 9A: Line: 1.).

      On April 15, 1930 Horace Strickland, 73 year old Farmer born in NY, who owned a radio and his own farm; Mary, 70 year old born in Irish Free State and immigrated in 1888; were living at farm 196 on Hill Road (Source: Census: 1930: NY: Broome: Chenango: ED: 4-55: Page: 8A: Line: 23.).

      Horace Strickland died January 19, 1945 in Binghamton, NY.
