Johannes lived in House #14 Unterstork, Germany.
The oldest son, Jakob, inherited the land and the rest of the children emigrated to the United States. It is noted in the parish record that Josef, Peter, Bonifatius and Anna Katharina ausewandert nach USA. Elisabeth Katharina's record is noted Verbleif noch unbekannt (whereabouts unknown).
According to Donna (Neister) Przecha (December 5, 2001): "I am a descendant of the OH branch of the family and live in San Diego, CA. By luck I found a cousin in Germany who checked the parish records and made a transcript for me. This woman had emigrated to Utah and had a cousin in Frankfurt who went with another cousin to Unterstork. Then it was translated and filtered back through the lady in Utah. She didn't even say which church it was or where the records are located but it was a Catholic church. From what I have been able to determine, Stork is in the parish of Neuhof. Reviewing my notes I see that in Peter's family I have an official copy of the marriage from the church in St. Margareta. Also the birth of Georg Josef Wilhelm as well as handwritten copies of the other children. You would probably like copies of these. Rather than messing with scanning, zipping, etc. I would rather just make copies and mail to you if you would give me your address. Very early work from Heinrich forward was from research by the Kitchen family for LDS obligations. They pooled their funds and had research done. I corresponded with Arlo Kitchen several years ago. None of the others in the Ancestral File seem interested and never answer inquiries. He thought the research was done at Schluctern but I am not sure of that. I also have a copy of the marriage license of Peter Nichter and Mary Johann, if that is of interest (1887). The two Josephs are a puzzle that I have not really looked into. As I mentioned, Richard Nichter gave me the information from tombstones for 4 generations of his family. When it has specific dates I assume there is some truth to it. The church records give another set of specific dates 3 years later so it appears these were two people. The Germans often used the same first name for all the children and the child went by a second or third name so two Josephs isn't very strange. (Look at all the Marias in Peter's family.) The first Joseph probably had a longer name but in America was just known as Joseph. I think the researchers in Germany stopped when they found the marriage to Maria Hausmann. Peter might have had an earlier marriage, either in Margrethenhaun or Unterstork. Unfortunately, we still don't have these records. At the time I first came up with this information, it cost money to get records (pre-Internet) so I did not pursue it further as this wasn't my direct line. Records in Ft. Wayne might shed further light on this puzzle. From the Hessian Archives I ordered an entry from Hessische Auswanderer 1840-50. (Big pain with foreign drafts, etc.) It just lists Bonifaz (Bonaparte) Nuechter and a few details. It also lists several other Nuechters (Rueckers, Uffhausen, Dietershausen, etc. I don't think it is significant for you but I can include a copy also."Photos:
These pictures of the family homestead in Unterstork were taken in 1980 by Donna Neister and her sister. The lower floor of the house is the village gasthaus and there is still a barn on the property.
