Family History:
Hatfield Parish Records state that both Elizabeth and James were of that parish at the time of their marriage. In 1635 James, weaver, and Elizabeth were members of the Roxbury church. On May 17, 1637 he was admitted freeman at Roxbury. In 1641 he served as Commissioner. In 1644 he is listed as a shareholder in Plum Island, MA In 1648 he was admitted freeman at Ipswich. In 1677 he served as tithing man. In 1679 he served on the commission for town affairs. On June 28, 1692 James Howe, Sr gave a signed deposition on his daughter-in-law Elizabeth's behalf . 'Ipswich Antiquarian Papers', 19 May 1702: "Mr. James Howe, a good man of Ipswich, 104 years old is buried today. Died, I think, on the Lord's Day night just about the time the news of the King's death was brought from Madeira."
