Mother: Collamore, JoanWilliam was excused from military duty in 1669 due to the loss of one eye in an Indian battle. On April 21, 1676 while defending Scituate against an Indian attack, William was slain and his house was burned to the ground. The farm had been laid out to him by the freemen of Scituate where the late Captain Curtis lived, and occupied nearly the same place a few rods east. The loss of the house and barn was valued at £40. This was the usual value for the second best house in the town. William's children were all mentioned in the will of his uncle Peter Collamore.Family:
