Page 55Jessie Young was born near Toronto, Canada, September 16, 1821, died at his home in Pilot Grove township, Nov. 5, 1902. He had been married three times and was the father of fourteen children, five of whom with his aged widow, survive him. He came to Iowa with his parents as early as 1838 and about 1843 to this township where he has since resided. He was a strictly honest and industrious, but died a poor man so far as worldly wealth is concerned. He was buried in the McKay Cemetery, Nov. 6. Funeral was conducted by Rev. S. J. Salisbury. Thus an old citizen has passed from us but his honesty and uprightness will remain in our memory.
