NORMA J. WOODSIDE

March 31, 1931 -- April 1 2004

Norma Jean Woodside, 73, of Monmouth, formerly of Tennessee and rural Carthage, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg.

She was born on March 31, 1931, in rural Carthage, a daughter of George and Margaret Saathoff Huls.  On Oct. 29, 1949, in Carthage, she married Loren C. Woodside.  He died June 14, 1993.

She is survived by one daughter, Lorna D. (Gary) Utter of Monmouth; three sons, Lonnie E. Woodside of Tennessee, Ronald L. (Carlene) Woodside of Burlington, Iowa, and Mark E. Woodside of Macomb; three sisters, Carolee (Vern) Ellefritz of Carthage, Mildred Eiskamp of Paxton, and Carrie (Wilbur) Johnson of Carthage; two brothers, Irvin (Gertrude) Huls of Carthage and Melvin (Erma) Huls of Monticello, Fla.; six grandchildren, Lance (Stephanie) Utter, Lynn (Jeff) Ewing, Nathan, Tyler, Jeff and Erin Woodside; two great grandchildren, Jordan Utter and Logan Ewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; and one brother, Marvin.

She was raised in the Lutheran Church and for the last few years attended Countryside Bible Church in Monmouth.  She was a farm wife, who along with her husband farmed in Hancock County and Schuyler County for 35 years.  Her main love was her children and grandchildren.  She was an avid reader.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 5, in the Lamporte Funeral Home in CarthageRev. Dennis Scoville officiated.  Burial followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Carthage.

Memorials have been established for the Basco Veterans War Memorial or the Countryside Bible Church of Monmouth.
