Columns 2 & 3Aunt Una Wilson died at the home of her son Luke, three miles north of town, last Saturday morning. Mrs. Wilson was born in Floyd county, Va., December, 1810, and was in the 94th year of her age. Her death was caused by no well defined disease. The machinery of life, worn by nearly a century of useful activity, ran slower and slower, and finally, worn out, stood still. We had known deceased for more than fifty years. She was a kind, motherly woman, always ready with a kind word or a kind act. She was a woman of simple and regular habits of life, her only indulgence being a great smoker -- a habit she kept up to the last. She had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church for more than fifty years. Her husband, Joshua Wilson, died in 1864. She was the mother of seven children -- Luke and Aris, who reside in this vicinity, and Mrs. Jackson Cox, who resides in Harmony township. One of her sons was a soldier during the civil war, and was a prisoner at Andersonville. He died shortly after he returned home, from disease contracted during the service. Owing to some technicality, his mother was unable to get a pension, which was finally granted to her by a special act of congress.

Page 49Mrs. Una Wilson, widow of Joshua Wilson was born in Floyd county, Va., Dec. 12, 1810. Her husband was a son of John Wilson, a well known pioneer settler of the west side of St. Marys township. He died in 1864. She was a remarkable, industrious, energetic woman, until disabled by age and infirmities. She raised a large family. Two of her sons, Avis and Luke reside in this township. She makes her home with the latter. Her son John was prisoner at Andersonville and died shortly after the close of the war from privations he suffered while a prisoner. She was granted a pension by special act of congress of $12 per month, there being some technicality by which her claim was barred under the general pension law. She is a great smoker and finds much consolation in her pipe in her old days. She has been for many years a worthy member of the Primitive Baptist church. She has a comfortable home with her son and family from whom she receives the kindest care.
