Baird White

Funeral services for Chester Baird White, 66, Plymouth, were held Saturday afternoon in the Kilgore-Palmer Memorial Home, Carthage, with Elder Orvel B. Prior officiating.  Burial was in Harmony Cemetery.

Mr. White died unexpectedly Feb. 21, at his farm home northwest of Plymouth.  He had been in failing health for two years.

Born Feb. 25, 1903, he was the son of Albert and Virginia Lionberger White.  He lived most of his life in the Plymouth area and was widely known as a trucker.  He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and Bentley IOOF No. 412 lodge.

He was married to Helen Hardy September 1924 at Springfield.  They are the parents of nine children.

Surviving with his wife, are five sons, Robert of rural Plymouth, William of Abingdon, George of Beltsville, Md., Glen of Rural Carthage, Chester of Kahoka, Mo.; four daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Webb of Bentley, Mrs. Edwin (Mary) Harris of Basco, Miss Del White of Fort Madison, Iowa; Mrs. Jack (Peggy) Duncan of Plymouth; and 25 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and two grandchildren.

Elder Orval Prior Officiates in
Rites at Carthage and Burial
in Harmony Cemetery

Chester Baird White, Plymouth farmer and trucker, was lovingly laid to rest Saturday afternoon in Harmony township cemetery.  Casket bearers were Lester Lantz, Russell Lawson, Bernard McPherson, Frank Shoup, Gene Thurman and Lloyd Rampley.

Elder Orval Prior of Bentley Primitive Baptist church, officiated in the final rites held at 2 that afternoon, Feb. 24, 1968, at the Kilgore Memorial home in Carthage.

Many loved ones and friends attended the services and the floral tributes were beautiful.

Mr. White was born in Hancock county, Feb. 25, 1903, a son of Albert and Virginia Lionberger White, departing life Feb. 21, 1968.  He married Helen Hardy in September, 1924, at Springfield.  He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Surviving are the widow; five sons, Robert of Plymouth, William of Abingdon, George of Beltsville, Md., Glen of Carthage, Chester of Kahoka, Mo., four daughters, Del of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Jack (Peggy) Duncan of Plymouth, Mrs. Edwin (Mary) Harris of Basco and Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Webb of Bentley, and 25 grandchildren.  A brother and sister are deceased.

Mr. White's affable personality gained many friends.  He was ever trustworthy and upright in his public relationships, a devoted husband and father, who will be sadly missed in the home and in the community.
