ANN WHITAKER

Jan. 11, 1940 -- June 11, 2005

Ann Whitaker, 65, of Bowen, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, in her home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1940, near Bowen, a daughter of Francis and Virginia Thompson Vest.  She married Lloyd Whitaker on May 27, 1955, in Denver.  He survives.

She is survived by one daughter, Becky (Ryan) Ramsey of Bowen; four sons, Bruce (Kristin) Whitaker of Keokuk, Iowa, Brian (Terri) Whitaker of Bowen, Brad (Evelyn) Whitaker of Bowen, and Barry (Jenny) Whitaker of Bowen; 10 grandchildren, Kelsey Whitaker, Tecia Lantz, Trista Henry, Bradley Whitaker, Bret Whitaker, Ty Whitaker, Derek Vail, Rylie and Emma Whitaker, and Corey Ramsey; three great-grandchildren, Delaney Lantz, Jadyn Henry and Jackson Whitaker; three sisters, Sandra (Bob) Campbell of Augusta, Terri (Pat) Sullivan of Colchester and Ginger (John) Rexroat of Colchester; one brother, Ronnie (Marilyn) Vest of Bowen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She recently celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary.  She was a retired 25-year employee of Methode Electronics Inc. in Carthage and most recently was a store auditor at Shopco in Quincy.  She attended Bowen High School.  She was a member of the Denver Christian Church.  She enjoyed her pontoon boat, fishing and gardening.  Her most precious treasures in life were her husband and family.  Taking care of her family was her lifelong calling.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15, in the Bowen United Methodist Church.  Rev. Sandra Bunnell officiated.  Burial followed in the Bowen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Chili Park District.
