Anthony L. Washburn

January 31, 1937 -- January 28, 2003

Anthony L. Washburn, 65, of Keokuk, died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Keokuk Area Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1937, in Keokuk, the son of Martin Leroy and Irene C. Lambert Washburn.

Survivors include: two daughters, Angela Flower and her husband, Robert, of Oak Park, Ill., and Debbie Worrell and her husband, Bill; eight sisters, Vivian Mahoney and her husband, Elmer, Sheila Kay and her husband, John, Kathrine Boltz and her husband, Robert, Dolores Wadden, Sharon Cockrell, Ilene Robertson and Lucille Solomon, all of Keokuk and Shirley Dodge and her husband, Sonny, of Hamilton, Ill.; three brothers, Glenn Washburn and his wife, Jean and Keith Washburn and his wife, Diane, all of Keokuk and Pat Washburn and his wife, Sandra, of Des Moines; three grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Ginnaris; and three brothers, John Washburn, Carl Washburn and one in infancy.

He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and was employed in construction.

Mr. Washburn received honorable discharges from both the United States Army and the Iowa National Guard.

He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, with the Rev. Christopher David officiating.

Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery with full military rites in Keokuk.

Visitation is today at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk, with family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m.  A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. during visitation.
