Page 35A GOOD MAN DEAD
Another good citizen of Harmony bas been called to his final rest. Wm. C. Walton after two week's illness of pneumonia passed peacefully away at his home three miles northeast of Denver on the 16th of February, 1894. He was born in Augusta township on the 15th of August, 1844, and there grew to manhood on his father's farm; -- was a son of Frederic Walton, one of the highly respected and wealthy pioneers of that township. At the early age of seventeen years he united with the Missionary Baptist church, and through all succeeding years was faithful to his trust, leaving a stainless record to crown his memory. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary J. Clark, February 14th, 1867, and soon afterwards moved to a fine farm he owned in this township, where the happy couple lived in peace and prosperity, respected and loved by a wide circle of friends. Deceased is survived by the wife and four children; two sons and two daughters, also by his good mother at the age of eighty-five years, two sisters and two brothers, -- Mrs. Samuel Harnest of Carthage, being one of his sisters.
The funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant last Sunday, the congregation being larger than the church could hold. Elder Malcom, of Plymouth, in an appropriate sermon paid a just and feeling tribute to the virtuous life of the departed.
Thus closes the life labors of one of the best men in Harmony township, a kind neighbor -- a loving father and husband.
There are many to share in the sorrows that overshadow the stricken family -- hoping that brighter suns may dawn upon them.
