Lee R. Walker, 78, of Fountain Green died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at his home.
He was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Webster, the son of Orville and Olive Reed Walker. On Aug. 23, 1947, he married Margie Hasten in Carthage.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Carlene (Marshall) Adams of Dallas, Texas and Dixie (Dennis) Castlebury of Plymouth; two sons, Ronnie (Barb) Walker of LaHarpe and Rick (Kim) Walker of Richland Center, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Robbie, Ryan, Jerod, Ronald and Jason Walker, Carlee, Jacy and Denna Castlebury and five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Randy "Cody" Walker and Michael Walker (in infancy); one brother, Harry Walker; and his parents.
He was raised in the Fountain Green and Webster communities. He attended Fountain Green High School for three years and then graduated from Blandinsville High School. He worked at the service station in Fountain Green for several years and then owned and operated his own business of spreading lime and fertilizer for 50 years. He loved hunting, fishing, trapshooting and being outdoors.
Funeral services were held May 18, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Robert Tillman and Rick Walker officated. Burial followed in the McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green.
A memorial fund has been established for the Fountain Green Presbyterian Church, LaHarpe Senior Citizens or the MDH Hospice.
