Funeral services for James Durett Tyner, 94, of Carthage were held Monday, March 1, at 10 am in the Fecht Funeral Home, the Rev. D. E. Skiles officiating.  Mrs. Lowell Smith was the organist.  Pallbearers were James Westfall, Fred Shirey, W. D. Stewart, W. F. Thompson, Damon Fletcher, and Merlin Furrow.  Burial was in McKay cemetery in BurnsideMr. Tyner died Wednesday, Feb 24, in Memorial Hospital in Carthage, where he had been a patient for nearly two weeks.  Born in Burnside May 1, 1870, he was a son of DeWitt and Susannah Decker Tyner.  He attended school in Burnside.  On July 5 1892, he was married to LuLu May Brown in Wichita, Kansas.  They lived on a farm near Burnside, and he also did carpenter work and had a blacksmith shop.  They moved to Carthage when he retired about 25 years ago.  Mrs. Tyner died Nov 14, 1944.  He was a member of the Burnside Christian Church.  Surviving are a son, Milan B. Tyner of Los Angeles, Calif., a grandson, Meridith Milan Tyner of Fresno, Calif.; and a brother, George Tyner of Everett, Wash.  He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret, Linnie, and Iva; and three brothers, William, Clinton, and Lewis.
