DIED LAST FRIDAYLong Time Resident Was Buried
From Her Residence SundayMrs. Ella Towles died Friday morning, Nov. 1, 1929, at her home on East Locust Street in this city. Mrs. Towles had been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Towles was the daughter of Abbetingo and Nancy Sherman, and was born in Scheffield, Ohio, Aug. 14, 1846.
Her family came to Carthage in an early day. Her father conducted a blacksmith shop. As Ella Sherman, she was a loved and familiar person in many Carthage homes where she did the family sewing.
She was married to Marvin Towles Dec. 29, 1887. Mr. Towles died several years ago.
Mrs. Towles was a member of a family of eight children, all of whom have preceded her in death except one sister, Mrs. Margaret Sherman Shoup who lived with her.
Mrs. Towles had many warm friends in this city who gave her considerate attention during her decline in health.
The funeral was held at the residence Sunday afternoon, Dr. M. L. O'Harra officiating. Burial at Moss Ridge.
