Virgil Dewey Tippett

Virgil Dewey Tippett, son of Margaret and James Emmett Tippett, was born May 25, 1898, in Scotland County, Missouri.  His early life was spent on a farm in the Concord Community, where he united with the Concord Church.  He spent several years in Memphis and North Dakota.

On October 15, 1942, he was married to Frances Margaret Thurber.  That winter they moved to Los Angeles, California.  The past twelve years they have lived in Palm Springs, California, where Mr. Tippett passed away on Saturday, April 19, 1975.

Virgil was one of a family of five children.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ina Stark and Verna Bartee, and one brother, Arthur.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, Arlie and wife Lois; also several nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 24, 1975, at 2:00 p.m. from the Payne Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiating.  Soloist was Kenneth Campbell, and organist was Mrs. Mary Belle Greeno.  Pallbearers were Leo Darr, Russell Cravens, George Camp, Herschel Clark, Mack Kutzner, and Vernon Tippett.  Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery.
