Column 6Death of Keziah Jane Thurber
Keziah Jane Thurber, widow of the late William Thurber, died April 18, 1907, at her home four miles southwest of Memphis, aged 76 years, 1 month and 28 days.
The maiden name of deceased was Keziah Jane Langley. She was born Feb. 20, 1831 in McDonough County, Illinois. In early childhood she removed with her parents to Hancock County, Ill.
In 1852 she was married to William Thurber, of Hancock County, Ill. To this union ten children were born six of whom survive her -- the husband died August 1866. The surviving children are Mrs. Harriet Ralph, Mrs. Paulina Rathbun, Thomas Thurber, Mrs. Anna Ward, Adolphus E. Thurber and Mrs. Laura Roasa.
In 1897 she came to Scotland County and bought the farm known as the C. Black farm, where she resided until her death.
At the age of fifteen she was converted to Christ. After the elapse of time joining the Middle Creek Baptist Church of Hancock County, Ill., where she held her membership at the time of her death.
The funeral services were held at Baptist Church of Memphis, April 19, 1907, Rev. S. J. Shaw conducting the services. The body was tenderly laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery east of town.
