MRS. CORDELIA THOMPSON

Mrs. Thompson came to Carthage College two years ago and accepted a position in order to be with her granddaughter, Miss Genevieve, and for the purpose of helping her granddaughter secure an education.  She proved herself a very fine Christian lady, and entered heartily into the college life with evident enjoyment.

Mrs. Thompson was a consistent Christian, and exhibited the wealth of virtue which no adornments or jewels could have brought to her.  She was a sweet-spirited lady, never complained, and always found reasons for enjoying life and her work.  In this respect, her character was like a sweet-smelling flower.

She was a very active woman, and filled a useful place up until her last illness.  She seemed to find great pleasure in the fact that the work which she did was helping to provide an education for her granddaughter, in whom she took a great interest.  Always busy, she never seemed to pass a useless day.

Her beautiful life closed as quietly as she humbly lived her life.  Few people like her could adjust themselves to a life entirely different, such as she found the college dormitory life to be, but, with the spirit of youth that characterized her, she spoke of her last two years as the happiest of all her life.  She missed her boys and girls, as she called the students, when separated from them during vacation periods.

The college will miss her quiet but cheerful presence very much, and wishes to bear tribute to so noble and sweet a Christian character as she manifested in her life while connected with the college.
