ADA K. THOMPSON

Sept. 14, 1918 -- Feb. 14, 2004

Ada Kathryn Thompson, 85, Dallas City, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.

She was born Sept. 14, 1918, near Dallas City, the daughter of Elijah Monroe and Roseanna Susan Duncan Alley.  She married Philip W. Thompson on April 20, 1936, in Kahoka, Mo.  He died Nov. 25, 1981.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Engen of Dallas City and Shirley Haworth of Macomb; two sisters, Elsie A. Mitchell of Burlington and Bertha Jones of Stronghurst; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Private family services will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Crane Cemetery near Lomax.

A memorial fund has been established for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Ada Kathryn Thompson, 85, Dallas City, died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Memorial Hospital, Carthage.

She was born Sept. 14, 1918, near Dallas City, the daughter of Elijah Monroe and Roseanna Susan (Duncan) Alley.  She married Philip W. Thompson April 20, 1936, in Kahoka, Mo.  He preceded her in death Nov. 25, 1981.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Engen, Dallas City, and Shirley Haworth, Macomb; two sisters, Elsie A. Mitchell, Burlington, Iowa, and Bertha Jones, Stronghurst; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Eugene Thompson; one brother, Noah Alley; one half sister; and one half brother.

She lived all her life in Dallas City.  She loved working in her garden, raising flowers, sewing and birdwatching.

Private family graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the Crane Cemetery, near Lomax.

A memorial fund has been established for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Banks & Beals Funeral Home, La Harpe, is in charge of arrangements.
