Funeral services for Paul Symmonds, 75, Carthage, were held Sunday afternoon in the Neiser Funeral Home in Carthage with the Rev. Glen V. Manis officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton. A memorial has been established in his name to the radio broadcast of the United Methodist Church in Carthage.
Mr. Symmonds died Friday morning, Jan. 13, 1978, in his home in Carthage.
He was born July 18, 1902, near Elvaston, a son of Squire A. and Anna Fisher Symmonds. He married Bertha Smith Dec. 22, 1923, in Kahoka, Mo. He was a member of the Carthage Masonic lodge, was a past master of the lodge and was a real estate broker for many years.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Roscoe (Margaret) McDaniel of Carthage; two sons, Samuel P. of Phoenix, Ariz., and James E. of Laton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two brothers, James E. of Visalia, Calif., and Samuel of Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one brother and three sisters.
