Albert Wayne Switzer

Albert Wayne Switzer, 64, of rural Bucklin, 9 at his home following an illness of two years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 16, at the United methodist Church in BucklinRev. Max Campbell, pastor of the church, officiated.  Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery in Bucklin.  Arrangements were made under the direction of the Louis V. Scudiero & Sons Funeral Home in Bucklin.  The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the United Methodist Church in Bucklin.

He was born Oct. 29, 1925 in Linn County, northwest of Bucklin, the son of John L. and Lillie Bishop Switzer.  On Sept. 3, 1950 at Bucklin, he was united in marriage with Marceda Bell Mendenhall.  She survives of the home.

Also surviving are one son, Randall Switzer of Bucklin; three daughters, Patricia McCarty of Kansas City, Brenna Ehrett of Cincinnati, Ohio and Janice Wolfe of Columbus, Ind.; one brother, Donald Switzer of Brookfield; three sisters, Pearl Harrington and Virginia Casady, both of Bucklin, and Ethel Harris of Kirkwood; and three grandchildren, Paula McCarty, Gabriel (Gabe) Dean Switzer and James Matthew (Matt) Switzer.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Bruce Wayne Switzer on July 18, 1982; three brothers, Roy Switzer, Franklin Switzer and Floy E. Switzer, Sr.; and one infant sister.

He had been a lifelong resident of the Bucklin community where he had engaged in farming and feeding cattle, was a dairyman and had a hog operation at one time.  He was a Resolutions Committeeman for Mid-American Dairyman.  He had also served on the Bucklin Township Board.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bucklin, had been very active in all functions of the church, and had served on the administrative board, the board of trustees and the finance committee of the church.
