Carl Ray Stuehrenberg, 46, of Carthage, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at his home in Carthage.
He was born April 3, 1960, in Carthage, a son of Ray and Esther Huls Stuehrenberg. On Nov. 22, 1980, he married Carol White in Carthage.
He is survived by his parents, Ray and Jan Stuehrenberg and Esther Stuehrenberg of Carthage; two sons, Justin Stuehrenberg (Katie) of Indianapolis, Ind. and Jacob Schulte of Keokuk, Iowa; two step-daughters, Amy (Keith) Carothers of Quincy and Ashley Nagel of Keokuk; two sisters, Kim (Rex) Byers of Ferris and Lori (Steve) Stuehrenberg-Canyon of Manassa, Va..; one niece, Amy Byers; one nephew, Alan Byers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jacob and Hilda Huls; his paternal grandparents, August and Madeline Stuehrenberg; one uncle, Jim Varner; and two cousins, Larry Varner and Lisa Glisan.
He grew up on the family farm east of Denver. He attended school in Carthage graduating from Carthage High School in 1978. After graduating, he drove a gas truck delivering fuel to local farmers, but his love for farming brought him back to the farm. He raised livestock and was a grain farmer for many years. He was also a mechanic, repairing everything from lawn mowers to semi trucks. During his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving stock cars. Later, he became an avid NASCAR fan.
Funeral services were held at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage on Sunday, Aug. 27. Pastors Greg Busboom and Joe Little officiated. Burial followed in the Browning Cemetery near Denver.
