PASSES AWAY

He Dies This Morning at 6:30 O'clock
at His Home, 1409 Bank Street

The death of James M. Steele occurred this morning at 6:35 o'clock at his home, 1409 Bank street, from tuberculosis.  He had been ill for the past four weeks, and in poor health for over a year when he was a victim of influenza, which disease caused the tuberculosis.

Mr. Steele and his family have lived in Keokuk since 1912, coming here from Illinois.  For several years they lived in West Keokuk, residing at their present address only for the last two months.  Mr. Steele was a member of the Protestant Methodist church.

Born in Ogle county, Illinois, December 5, 1854, James Steele lived practically all of his life in this part of the country.  He married Miss Adaline Lenover in Illinois on October 30, 1884, who survives him.  They were the parents of six children, five sons living and one daughter dead.

The survivors are the wife, five sons, Theodore, James Clifford, Ernest Frank, Gailard L., Calvin Henry.  There are also two children by a former wife.  They are Mrs. Robert Armstrong and George B. Steele, both of Illinois.
