Column 3MRS. MAURICE SNYDER DIED IN KEOKUK HOSPITAL
Bessie Edna Thurber, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Thurber of Memphis, was born June 9, 1901 on a farm west of Memphis and departed this life at the St. Joseph hospital in Keokuk at 12:30 a.m., September 19, 1950, at the age of 49 years, three months and 10 days.
Bessie was one of a family of five children, one sister and her parents having preceded her in death.
She spent all of her life in Northeast Missouri, except for a year in Wisconsin. She attended the rural schools of Scotland county, the Memphis high school and the Kirksville teachers college and is well known in the county, having been one of Scotland County's most successful teachers for over 20 years.
On April 6, 1921, she was united in marriage to Maurice Snyder, son of R. P. Snyder of the Bible Grove community. To this union two sons were born.
At an early age Bessie united with the Methodist church at Memphis, but later moved her membership to the Granger Methodist church.
She will be greatly missed by her family and will be remembered by her many friends for her pleasant way and her courage during the six years of her illness.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her faithful husband, two sons, Roger of the home and Roderick of Keokuk; two sisters, Mrs. Gale Hunter and Mrs. Virgil Tippett of Memphis and one brother, Avon Thurber of Chicago; also one niece, Linda Thurber and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Roderick Snyder.
Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Granger Methodist church.
Interment in Memphis cemetery.
