Ruby Simmons, 77, a longtime resident of Burnside, died Feb. 9, 1989, in the Northwest Community Care Center in Arlington Heights.
She was born June 5, 1911, the daughter of Clarence and Coroa Hutchins in New Philadelphia. She married Albert Simmons July 8, 1929, in Hancock County. She worked at Shellor Globe for 17 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Danner of Rock Island, Judy Hascup of Palentine and Diana Simmons of East Moline; one son, Raymond of Burnside; one brother, Clarence "Bill" Hutchins of Carthage; one sister, Lottie Martin of Bowen; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Burnside, the Pilot Grove Senior Citizens, Home Bureau Ladies, and the Union of Rubber and Textile Workers.
Services were held Feb. 13 at the Christian Church in Burnside with the Rev. Charles Ferguson and Brad Fangman officiating.
Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

BURNSIDE, Ill. -- Ruby Simmons, 77, of Burnside died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 9, 1989) in the Northwest Community Continuing Care Center.
Mrs. Simmons was born June 5, 1911, near Philadelphia, Ill., a daughter of Clarence and Coroa Crabtree Hutchins. She married Albert P. Simmons July 8, 1929, in Hamilton.
Mrs. Simmons was a member of Burnside Christian Church, Pilot Grove Senior Citizens, and United Rubber Textile Workers Union in Keokuk. She was employed at Shellor Globe in Keokuk for 17 years. Mrs. Simmons was a Laverineside-area resident for 45 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Danner of Rock Island, Judy Hascup of Palentine, and Diana Simmons of East Moline; a son, Raymond of Burnside; a brother, Clarence (Bill) Hutchins of Carthage; a sister, Mrs. Pete (Lottie) Martin of Bowen; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Burnside Christian Church by the Rev. Charles Ferguson and Brad Finglan. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at the Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage. The family will meet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Burnside Christian Church, Association for Retarded Citizens, or Hancock County Cancer Society.
