Page 110Kermit L. Shutwell
LA HARPE, Ill. -- Kermit L. Shutwell, 75, of rural La Harpe died at 8:12 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 11, 1986) in the La Harpe Hospital.
Mr. Shutwell was born in Disco May 24, 1910, a son of Fred and Margie Maynard Shutwell. He married Halcyone Gray Jan. 12, 1933, in Burnside. She survives.
Mr. Shutwell was a lifelong farmer and spent most of those years in the La Harpe area. He was a member of the La Harpe Union Church and held several offices in the church. Mr. Shutwell was a past president of the La Harpe School Board and had been a leader of the La Harpe 4-H Club for 10 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert of New Windsor and James of La Grange, Mo.; two brothers, Vernon and Dale Shutwell, both of La Harpe; a sister, Mrs. Louis (Dorothy) Baxter of Metamora; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Banks and Beals Funeral Home at La Harpe by the Rev. Bruce Goettsche. Burial will be in the La Harpe Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the La Harpe Union Church or the La Harpe Hospital.
