Charles S. "Chuck" Settles, 38, of Ferris, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital, Carthage.
He was born Jan. 1, 1964, in Macomb, the son of Conrad and Jean Franks Settles. He was married to Nancy Trone, she survives.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jean and Bill Twitchell of Ferris; one daughter, Mandy (Bill) Frakes of Carthage; one son, Shawn Settles of Carthage; one sister, Shelly Settles of Plymouth; aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins; one step-sister, Lucinda K. Rogers of Houston, Texas; and one step-brother, Edward J. Twitchell of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Conrad Settles; his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Hazel Franks; paternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Settles; one infant brother, Terry Lee; one infant nephew; and one step-sister, Lori M. Kelly.
He was a graduate of Carthage High School. He had been employed at Methode in Carthage, and was a full time student at Vatterott College in Quincy.
Friends may call at the Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage after 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, and meet with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Funerals services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage, with Rev. Greg Busboom officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.
Memorials have been established for a charity that will be decided later by the family.

FERRIS, Ill. -- Charles S. "Chuck" Settles, 38, of Ferris, Ill., died at 5:56 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Carthage Memorial Hospital.

Rogers of Houston, Texas; and a stepbrother, Edward J. Twitchell of Florida.
