Lyle Frederick "Scotty" Scott, 82, Carthage, died Monday in Memorial Hospital, Carthage.
He was born March 30, 1903, in LaMoine Township in McDonough County, a son of Amos Newton and Myrtle E. Minor Scott. He married Clarice T. Duncan on Sept. 20, 1925, in Macomb. She died Nov. 3, 1985.
He was employed by Beal Motor Co. for many years, a truck driver for Bilderback Truck Lines, a member of the Hancock Lodge AF&AM 20 and the Quincy Consistory, AASR, a 32nd degree mason, served on the fire department from July 6, 1937 to his retirement in 1977 and was fire chief several times.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clifton (Laura Ann) Carle, Carthage and Mrs. Bill (Sandra) Ellefritz, Ferris; two sons, Dr. Keith L. Scott, Huntington, W.Va. and Dr. Jimmy Dan Scott, Normal; two brothers, Leslie and Roscoe Scott, Colchester; two sisters, Mrs. Lucile Duke and Mrs. Galen (Dorothy) McKee, Colchester; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lamporte Funeral Home, Carthage the Rev. Philip Nevius officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Macomb.
A memorial has been established.
