Mr. Scott is a civil war veteran, having served for three years, participating in engagements on both land and sea, being a member of the army and navy.

He leaves surviving beside his widow, the following: John H. Scott, of St. Louis, Mo.; Edward L. Scott, of Centralia, Mo.; and Miss Bessie B. Scott, at home; also a step-daughter, Mrs. H. F. Bruner, of Galesburg; a sister, Mrs. M. E. Wagner, of Hamilton, and a half-sister, Mrs. Eliza Black, of Wilmington, Ill.; one son, Charles R., having died in 1902.  Mr. Scott was a faithful member of the Christian church.

The funeral services will be held from the home at 10:30 o'clock today (Friday), Rev. E. M. Smith, now pastor of the Christian church of this city, officiating.  Rev. Mr. Smith was pastor of the church in Centralia during Mr. and Mrs. Scott's residence in that city.  Burial at Franklin cemetery, east of Carthage.
