James Warren Savidge of Joetta, son of George and Remembrance Budd Savidge, died at the Phelps hospital, Macomb, Ill., Friday evening, Aug. 7 at 7:20 o'clock, of old age and complications, after an illness of several months.

He was born in Zanesville, Ohio, Feb. 21, 1853.  At the time of his death, he was 83 years, 5 months and 17 days of age, and the only surviving member of his family.  He spent nearly all his life on a farm in Hancock county, coming here as a small child with his parents.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Fletcher July 4, 1875, and to this union were born four children, two of whom are living, Willard I. Savidge of Macomb, the eldest son, and Van M. Savidge, Imperial, Calif., the youngest son.  His wife and one son and one daughter, preceded him in death.

Besides his two sons he leaves six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, also a number of nephews and nieces to mourn his loss.

He was a man of sterling character, and highly respected by all who knew him, and will be sadly missed by his loved ones and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Majorville church at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. H. M. Bloomer of Macomb officiating.  Burial in Majorville cemetery.
