Of Rutledge Dies While
Preparing BreakfastMrs. Burley Saulisbury of Rutledge, who lived for many years near Greensburg and Fabius, died suddenly and unexpectedly about 5 o'clock Saturday morning, April 11, 1953, at her home. She was preparing breakfast at the time and fell over dead. She would have been 64 years old May 5.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Christian Church in Greensburg. Burial was in the Greensburg cemetery.
Surviving are the husband, who is bedfast after a stroke and was unable to attend the funeral, and the two children born to them, Ross Salisbury and Josie, Mrs. Leo Stone, both of near Rutledge. There survive also a number of grandchildren and four brothers and a sister, who are: Oscar Kigar of Edina, Joseph Kigar of Iowa, Lewis Kigar of Memphis and Raymond Kigar and Maude, Mrs. Joseph Burrus, of Baring.
Mrs. Saulisbury was Miss Alice Minnie Kigar before her marriage. She was one of the eleven children of the late John and Minnie Frances Bryant Kigar, and she was born in 1889 at Bible Grove in Scotland County. Her youth and early married life were passed in that vicinity.
The parents and five brothers, Johnnie, Fred, Lavon, Otto and Earl Kigar, preceded Mrs. Saulisbury in death. The last brother, Earl Kigar, died Jan. 23, 1952.

Column 2Funeral Was Monday For Mrs. Saulsbury
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Greensburg Christian church for Mrs. Alice Minnie Saulsbury, 63, who died Saturday morning at her home.
Mrs. Saulsbury was born May 5, 1889, in Scotland county, to John and Minnie Kigar. In 1906 she married Burly M. Saulsbury who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ross, and a daughter, Mrs. Leo Stone, both of Rutledge; a sister, Mrs. Maude Burrus of Baring; four brothers, Raymond of Baring, Louis of Memphis, Joseph of Iowa, Oscar of Edina; and six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Rev. Eaton conducted the services. Flower girls were Audrey and Lucille Montgomery, Mildred Shephard, and Reta Saulsbury. Pallbearers were Noah Montgomery, Claude Saulsbury, Ralph Karsh, Clifford Tripplett, Glen Lefler, and Henry Miller.

Column 3Mrs. Alice Saulsbury Died Last Saturday
Mrs. Alice Minnie Saulsbury passed away at her home early Saturday morning. She was the daughter of John and Minnie Kigar, born in Scotland County, Missouri, May 5, 1889.
She married Burley M. Saulsbury September, 1906. Two children were born to them, a daughter, Mrs. Leo Stone at Rutledge, and a son, Ross Saulsbury, also of Rutledge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one half brother. She is survived by her husband, son, daughter, six grandchildren and one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Maude Burrus of Baring, four brothers, Raymond of Baring, Louis of Memphis, Joseph of Iowa, Oscar of Edina, also a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Greensburg Christian church Monday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. G. Lolin Eaton had charge of the services. Burial was in the Greensburg cemetery.
Body bearers were Noah Montgomery, Howard Wagner, Ralph Marsh, Clifford Triplett, Glen Lefler and Henry Miller.
Flower girls were Miss Lucille Montgomery, Miss Audrey Montgomery, Miss Mildred Shepard and Miss Reta Saulsbury.
Mrs. Saulsbury died just a few minutes before 5 o'clock Saturday morning when she got up at her usual time to fix the fires and had gone into the living room where she fell.
Her husband, who is bedfast after having a stroke, saw her fall but was unable to help in any way but kept calling when people passed by. About nine o'clock Mel Hendricks came by and heard Mr. Saulsbury, came in and went for help.
