WOODROW W. ROBINSON

Nov. 30, 1916 -- Oct. 15, 2002

Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Robinson, 85, a longtime resident of Hamilton, and previously of Keokuk and Nauvoo, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at the Heritage House Assisted Living Center in Carthage.

He was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Fountain Green, the son of John Thomas and Anna Melissa Pedigo Robinson.  He married Caroline Ilene Bollinger in 1938 in Kahoka, Mo.  She died in July of 1952.  He married Gladys Marie Dunn Scovern at Nauvoo.  She died on Sept. 4, 2001.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Miller Spraggins of Hamilton; one son, Ronald Robinson of Morganfield, Ken.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Donald (Diane Scovern) Barnett of Hamilton; a special brother-in-law, Bob Bollinger of Galesburg; and 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, five sisters, Agnes Merdian, Iva Bauman, Edith Burkiett, Eleanor Schuck, and Leatha Nelson; and three brothers, John Robinson, Henry Robinson, and Harry Robinson.

Woodrow loved to fish, hunt, play cards and work in his garden.  He was employed by Electro Metals of Keokuk, cooked on a barge line for National Marine Corp. and was employed by Neal McManus at M & C Distributors of Keokuk, before retiring in 1989.  He was a member of Teamsters Local #218.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, after 3 p.m. with the family meeting friends between 6 and 8 p.m. at Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton.  Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

The family requests that memorials be made to McDonough County Hospice or Hancock County Blessing Hospice.
