Funeral services for John Sylvester Riggens, 88, of Kirkwood were held Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Kirkwood Methodist church, the Rev. Howard Fisher officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery east of Carthage.
Mr. Riggens died Friday Sept. 18, in Monmouth hospital, where he had been a patient almost one month.
Born in Hancock county Dec. 14, 1876, he was a son of William Monroe and Martha Jane Gibson Riggens.
He was married in 1908 to Savilla Ruddle. She died in 1915. He later married Alida Begley who preceded him in death in 1963.
Surviving are a son, John Arol; a daughter Pearl; daughter-in-law Hellen; and granddaughter, Sherrill Riggens, all of Peoria.
A son, Minor, and an infant daughter also preceded him in death.
