Killed On Iwo;
Was MissingPfc. Alden Reuck was killed March 14 on Iwo Jima, according to a telegram received Saturday by his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Reuck, and his mother, Mrs. Belva Reuck of Carthage.
A telegram had been received here April 25 reporting that Pfc. Reuck was missing. He was a member of the 28th Regiment of the Fifth Marine Division, the group which raised the American flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. This Division is made up entirely of volunteers. Reuck enlisted in November, 1943, at Phoenix, Ariz., and had been overseas since October last year, although this was his first major battle. Two other men were killed almost simultaneously with him. In a letter from a buddy of his to Reuck's wife, it was disclosed that his death occurred just the day before the island of Iwo Jima was secured.
Surviving besides his wife and mother is a small son, Billy, two and one-half years old; a sister, Irene, of Carthage; two brothers in the service, Cpl. Rollin Reuck in Germany, and Robert C. Reuck S 2 /c in Shoemaker, Calif.

On Iwo JimaPfc. Alden Reuck died in action on Iwo Jima March 14, according to a war department message received here recently by his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Reuck. He was fighting with the Fifth Marine Division and had been overseas since last October.
Besides his wife, Pfc. Reuck is survived by a son, Billy, 2½ years old, his mother, Mrs. Belva Reuck, and a sister, Irene, and two brothers, Cpl. Rollin Reuck in Germany, and Robert C. Reuck S 2/c in Shoemaker, Calif.

Column 5Mrs. Marjorie Reuck of Carthage received official word that her husband, Pfc. Roy Reuck, U. S. M. C., previously reported missing in action, was killed on Iwo Jima, March 14 in his first major battle since his enlistment in the marines in November, 1943. He was a member of the 28th volunteer regiment of the Fifth division. He had been overseas since last October. Surviving are his widow; a two-year-old son, Billy; his mother, Mrs. Belva Reuck; a sister, Irene, of Carthage, and two brothers, Cpl. Rollin Reuck in Germany and Seaman Second Class Robert Reuck in Shoemaker, Cal.

Receives Letter and
Purple Heart AwardMrs. Marjorie Reuck of Carthage has received the purple heart and a letter of commendation in memory of her late husband, Pfc. Roy Alden Reuck, who died in action on Iwo Jima the day before the island was secured. The Reuck family are former residents of this section of the county.
Pfc. Reuck, while living in Phoenix, Ariz., entered service in 1943, and was sent overseas in September, 1944. He was member of the 28th marine division. It was members of that group who raised the American flag on the island. Pfc. Reuck received his training at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Calif. He was a resident of Keokuk for 10 years, where he owned and operated an oil station. His widow, Marjorie, and three-year-old son, Billy, his mother, Mrs. Belva Reuck and his grandmother, all reside in Carthage, the widow being employed in the office of J. R. Fay, county superintendent of highways. Alden has two brothers in service, technician fifth grade, Rollin Reuck, in Germany and seaman second class, Robert Reuck, in the navy.
