Merlin "Pete" L. Rettig, 74, of Dallas City, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at his home.
He was born April 11, 1931, in Lomax, the son of James and Della Logan Rettig. On June 22, 1952, he married Barbara Jolley in Lomax.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Terri Bryant, Bobbi (Mike) Leggett and Ruth (George) Mitchell, all of Dallas City; two sons, Brad (Pam) Rettig of Dallas City and Jamie (Susan) Rettig of Donnellson, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ralph Rettig of Augusta, Iowa, Gary Rettig of North Carolina and Wayne Rettig of Dallas City.
He served in the US Army from 1947 - 1950. He was a retired carpenter and electrician.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial will be held at a later date at Crane Cemetery, Lomax. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial fund as been established for the Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
