Samuel Kime Ramsey, 66, of Bowen, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at his home of cancer.
He was born July 17, 1938, at the family farm north of Bowen, the son of William Leon and Martha Viola Hull Ramsey. In 1961 he married Juanita Van Ostrand, and they later divorced.
He is survived by one sister, Doris Mae Smith of Bowen; two brothers, Robert Hull Ramsey of Bowen, and Gerald Leon (Shirley) Ramsey of Bowen; six nephews; three aunts; one uncle; and his friend, Edward J. Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, George Smith; his sister-in-law, Jean Ramsey; and his niece, Ronelle Bunnell.
He attended the Bowen schools, graduating from Bowen High School in 1956. He attended Mesabi Junior College and MacMurray College, and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan College in 1961. After graduation he taught music in the Pontiac schools. In 1966 he started Red Door Antiques in Bloomington, and in 1975 he moved the business to Bowen. He operated the Village Inn Restaurant in Bowen from 1980 to 1986.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, in the Bowen United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Bowen Abbey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bowen Abbey.
