Dies in Hollywood. -- Burial
In Harmony Cemetery.Mrs. Amanda Ramsey passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vergie Hunter in Hollywood, Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1926 following injuries she received when she fell and suffered a broken arm and hip.
The body was brought to Bentley, arriving yesterday and services were held there at the Baptist church, Elder Nay officiating. Interment in Harmony cemetery in the family lot.
Amanda Elizabeth Burner was the daughter of Isaac S. and Jane (Lionberger) Burner and she was born in St. Marys, township in this county Sept. 2, 1843. While she was young the family moved to Harmony township and there established the home so well known for years.
She was married to Samuel F. Ramsey March 17, 1864 to which union were born the following children: George Elmer died Jan. 26, 1910; Isaac Samuel died May 9, 1913 in Los Angeles, buried in Harmony cemetery; Vergie Ellen (Mrs. Robert Hunter) living at Hollywood; Ethel, (Mrs. Charles Harrison) of Bowen; Edgar Leland, died Jan. 7, 1892; Roscoe Burner, a hardware merchant of Hollywood. Mr. Ramsey died Sept. 8, 1886. There are seven grandchildren.
Of the brothers and sisters, John W. Burner died July 26, 1875, Mary Ellen Perry died Dec. 11, 1890, Ambrose C., died June 24, 1916 and the following survive: George S., of Hamilton, Mrs. Frances A. Harter of Bern, Kas., who was with Mrs. Ramsey at the time of her death, Mrs. Alice Bailey who makes her home in the old Burner homestead, Mrs. A. W. O'Harra of this city and Miss Olive Burner of this city.
Mrs. Ramsey became a member of the Providence Primitive Baptist church, April 12, 1891 and has been a consistent member since. Mrs. Ramsey was a woman of great thrift looking well to the ways of her household, a woman of deep affections and greatly burdened with the grief of her several bereavements. But withal, her life was one of great serenity and in spite for physical frailties and many anxieties she reached a good old age and died victorious in the faith and beloved and cherished by her family and friends.
