CURTIS H. PLOWMAN

Nov. 11, 1934 -- June 22, 2003

Curtis Hugh Plowman, 68, of Hamilton, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1934 in Basco, the son of Hugh and Ruth Wagstaff Plowman. He married Barbara Feiler on Aug. 31, 1975 in Kahoka, Mo.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Plowman of Hamilton; two daughters, Keela Neumann of Webster Grove, Mo. and Kendra (Don) Boley of Hamilton; two sons, Michael (Laura) Plowman of Hamilton and Jeffrey (Melinda) Plowman of Hamilton; one step-daughter, Valicia Sarah Smith of Earlham, Iowa; one step-son, Larry (Elaina) Lyne of Hamilton; six sisters, Carrie Flemming, Marge Heisler, both from Basco, Betty Belville of Hamilton, Darlos (Willard) Rampley of Basco, Jan (Carl) McVeigh of Hamilton, Karen (Tom) Pierce of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Raymond (Lodi) Plowman of Basco; 12 grandchildren, John Neuman of Eureka, Mo., Tim (Carly) Neumann of Hamilton, William Neumann of Keokuk, Donnie Boley III, Jennifer Boley, Taylor Plowman, Wade Plowman, Drew Plowman, all of Hamilton, Joshua Lyne, Kurstin Lyne, Anthony Lyne all of Earlham, Iowa, Celena Lyne of Hamilton; one great grandson, Caleb Neumann Leffler of Keokuk; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy and Garey Dean Plowman; three brothers-in-law, Curtis Flemming, Cliff Belville and Eugene Heisler; two nieces, Carla Rampley and Micki Bloyd; and one nephew, Jerry Dean Rampley.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended school in Basco and Warsaw. He was a member of the Basco Methodist Church and the First Christian Church in Hamilton. He had worked for the City of Hamilton, Street Department for nine years. He has also worked for Kast Metals Corp in Keokuk for 30 years. He had driven a truck for many years for his father and later, his uncle, Gerald "Peck" Plowman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at the Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton. Rev. Phoebe Blankenship and Rev. John Simpson officiated. Burial followed in the South Cemetery in Basco.

Memorials have been established in memory of Curtis Hugh Plowman. Lamporte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
