Are Held YesterdayFuneral services for Carl Phipps of Carthage were held Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home, the Rev. Ben S. Haddick officiating. Graveside services were conducted by the Blackhawk Masonic lodge. Burial was in Elvaston cemetery.
Mr. Phipps died in a hospital in Iowa City Monday morning, where he had been a patient only a day. He had been in Memorial hospital in Carthage for about two weeks.
Born on a farm north of Elvaston Oct. 12, 1898, he was a son of George and Anna Honce Phipps. He was married to Frances Duffy of Fountain Green Aug. 28, 1928.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Blackhawk masonic lodge and Pocahontas chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are the widow; a brother Harry Phipps of Elvaston and a sister, Mrs. Vera Marshall of Carthage.
