Column 2The venerable John W. Phillips died at his home near Shilo on the 31st of July. Deceased was born in Floyd County, Virginia, and would have been 91 years old the 12th of August. He was the oldest man living in the township. He came to Illinois with his family in 1854. He was an industrious, unassuming man and honest good citizen. He had been for many years a member of the Primitive Baptist church.
