Column 2Our community was shocked this morning to hear of the death of George Pennock, which occurred this morning at 3:30 o'clock, from what was supposed to be neuralgia of the heart. He was born near Rochester, N. Y., March, 18, 1835. He moved to this township with his parents when five or six years old; married to Miss Martha A. Perkins, January, 1858. Harvey, living in California; Frank and Edwin, living here; Birdie, wife of Thomas Kimbrough and Carrie at home, with the wife, survive. He had been in his usual health until Sunday evening about 8 o'clock. A physician was sent for and all that could be done for him done no good. He had built a nice house in Hamilton, Ill., and was going to move his family to day. He lives on the farm where he went to housekeeping and by industry and economy had accumulated considerable property, owning about 500 acres of land in one body; had just got home from Chicago Friday where he had been with a car load of cattle of his own feeding. He was one of Pilot Groves best citizens and will be missed in our community. He was a member of the Christian church and his funeral services will be conducted there by the Masonic order of which he has been a member for a number of years.
