James Patterson

Funeral services for James L. Patterson, 85, of LaHarpe were held Friday, Aug. 18, in the Banks Funeral Home in LaHarpe, the Rev. Wilbur Torrance of Seneca officiating.  Burial was in the LaHarpe cemetery.

Mr. Patterson died Wednesday, Aug. 16, in Mary Davier hospital in LaHarpe after an illness of several months.

Born near LaCrosse Oct. 27, 1875 he was a son of William J. and Virginia A. McCumber Patterson.  He married Jessie Cushman in LaCrosse May 16, 1907, and they resided on a farm in that area until 4½ years ago, when they moved to LaHarpe.

Mrs. Patterson survives with four sons and daughters, Harry O. Patterson of Burlington, Iowa, Keith Patterson of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Elmer (Iris) Maas of Shreveport, La., Mrs. Carl (Ila) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lillie Fortney of Hamilton, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Two sons and 10 brothers and sisters are deceased.
