Column 1Floyd Patterson Dies in Home Here
Floyd Victor Patterson, son of Albert and Margaret Patterson, was born in Pilot Grove township, October 28, 1889, and passed away at the family home in Carthage, Ill., May 31, 1938.
He joined the Presbyterian church in the year of 1901, and attended church whenever health permitted.
He had been sick since childhood, but he always had a pleasant smile and a kind word for everyone. On this last May morning just as dawn was breaking, he called his mother. As his loved ones gathered around his beside, he fell asleep to wake in Jesus, where no pain or sorrow will disturb his rest, as he walks the golden streets and waits for his loved ones.
He leaves his aged parents, four brothers, Homer, Ebert and Woodrow, all of Carthage; and Joe of Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Martin Mosley of this city, and Mrs. T. A. Coffman of Camden, Ohio; also six nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at The Elms, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. C. Harmon Johnson of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial was in McKay cemetery.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Geraldine Huey, organist; Mrs. Erma Hecox and Mrs. Mayme Corson.
