DIES FRIDAY IN
KEOKUK HOSPITALMrs. George Patterson died at Graham hospital in Keokuk Friday evening, after an illness of a few days, aged 73. She was born near LaCrosse, September 6, 1872, daughter of Phoebe Andrews and Charles B. Dorothy, and attended the country school in the community. She was married April 10, 1895, to George Patterson, who was located in Canton, as a painter and paperhanger, and their home was there until Mr. Patterson's death in 1901 when she and her son returned to the home of her parents.
The family moved to Burnside in 1904 where both parents passed away, Mrs. Patterson remaining there until recently when she came to Carthage to reside. She was a member of the Burnside Christian church and the Burnside chapter of the Eastern Star. Following her husband's death Mrs. Patterson became a practical nurse and continued that work until about seven years ago.
Surviving are her son, Carl Patterson, and a grandson Hull Patterson, also a sister, Mrs. Albert Edwards of Carthage.
Mrs. Patterson lived a sincere and devoted life, fulfilling all of her obligations completely, and passed away respected by a wide circle of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Burnside Christian church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, the Rev. James Q. Moore officiating. Music was by Mrs. Avis Todd, Mrs. Ralph Kloepfer and Mrs. Edgar Underwood. Pall bearers were Otto Barr, Wm. Jordon, Edgar Atkins, Wilbur Pettit, Guy Thompson and Edgar Underwood. Interment was in LaHarpe cemetery.
