SELMA MUNSON

Sept. 14, 1914 -- Sept. 24, 1994

Selma A. Munson, 80, a lifetime resident of Elvaston, died Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Long Term Care Unit of Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Elvaston, the daughter of Verne and Mabel Pomroy Miller.  She married Arthur Loren Munson Sept. 24, 1939, in Elvaston.  He died Aug. 21, 1992.

She is survived by two sons, Loren Munson of Armonk, N.Y., and John Munson of Milan; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Munson of Elvaston; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Richard Munson on June 20, 1986; a brother, William Homer Miller II; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Munson was a graduate of Elvaston High School.  She was a lifetime member of the Elvaston Presbyterian Church.  She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Services will be held today, Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. at the Elvaston Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dwain DePew officiating.  Burial will be in the Elvaston City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospital Long Term Care Unit of Quincy or to the Elvaston Presbyterian Church.

Selma A. Munson

ELVASTON, Ill. -- Selma A. Munson, 80, a lifetime resident of Elvaston, died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 24, 1994) in the Long Term Care Unit of Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Born Sept. 14, 1914, in Elvaston she was a daughter of Verne and Mabel Pomroy Miller.  She married Arthur Loren Munson Sept. 24, 1939, in Elvaston.  He died Aug. 21, 1992.

Mrs. Munson was a graduate of Elvaston High School and was a lifetime member of Elvaston Presbyterian Church.  She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include two sons, Loren Munson of Armonk, N.Y., and John R. Munson of Milan; 11 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Munson; a brother, William Homer Miller II a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Elvaston Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dwain N. DePew.  Burial will be in Elvaston City Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 today with family meeting friends 6-8 tonight in the Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton.
